What is a corrosion loop, and why does an RBI program depend on it?
The grouping decision that quietly determines whether an inspection plan makes sense.
1 min read
A corrosion loop groups piping and equipment that share the same process conditions and damage mechanisms, so that evidence from 1 location can legitimately inform conclusions about another.
Draw the loops wrong and everything downstream inherits the error: rates averaged across incompatible services, inspection credits claimed where they do not apply. Loop definition is where RBI programs are quietly won or lost.
